Coworking and shared workspaces are an unavoidable trend for the contemporary workplace. Those taking up coworking and shared offices are doing so at an alarming rate, according to research from Deskmag. The trend was expected to plateau or even decline in 2017, however it has continued to grow in global popularity. Predictions for industry growth in the latest Global Coworking Survey: 2018 Coworking Forecast estimate that by the end of 2018, 1.7 million people will be working in around 19,000 coworking spaces. 29 per cent of existing coworking spaces were opened in 2017, and that has already been matched again in 2018.
